If not for Darnella Frazier, History would have been different

Darnella Frazier, teen who filmed George Floyd video, reacts to verdict

This is Darnella Frazier, the then 17 year old who recorded the 9:29 video that shocked the world as well as provoked the anger, rage and fury of America not seen since the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

If not for that video, this would have officially been history:

Seven days in Minneapolis: a timeline of what we know about the death of George Floyd and its aftermath | MinnPost

Media Outlets wasted no time bringing this up immediately after the Guilty verdicts were announced. No one’s saying it was an attempted coverup but the video make it clear that this was certainly not a “Medical Incident”.

The reactions to the Guilty verdicts…this was the second time in six months I felt such a collective joy and relief from the entire country. Six months ago, it was when Joe Biden officially won the 2020 Presidential Election. Right after that became official, you literally had people across the country pour out of their homes–in the middle of pandemic–to celebrate in the streets.

…The fact that the Guilty verdicts, though hoped for was such a collective surprise should not be lost on anyone. Why? Because of how rare it is. We should not need an extraordinary set of circumstances to get a conviction. Yet, that was exactly what it took. As most have been saying since yesterday, this is just the beginning. There is more work that needs to be done to ensure convictions like this are standard and acccepted, not extraordinary and rare.
